Building Inspection and Neighborhood Services |
The City offers two Code Enforcement programs, the Property Maintenance Inspection Program and a Complaint/Referral program. Property Maintenance Inspection ProgramBegun in 2001, the Property Maintenance Inspection Program instituted a proactive rather than reactive code enforcement area for exterior property maintenance through scheduled inspections of specific areas of the City first in the 1st Aldermanic District and later in the 2nd District. This program is funded with Community Development Block Grant funds and overseen by the Director of Building Inspections and Zoning. This inspection area includes all properties east of S. 84th St. and north of W. Hayes Ave. to S. 72nd St., then north of W. Arthur Ave. to the east city limits. Complaints/Referral ProgramThe Building Inspection and Zoning Department investigates complaints/referrals involving building, mechanical and zoning code violations. Department policy requires all complaints be made in writing. If you wish to file a complaint, you may either write a letter addressed to the City of West Allis Department of Building Inspections and Zoning, 7525 W. Greenfield Avenue, West Allis, WI 53214, or fill out a complaint form and forward it to our department. If you wish to remain anonymous, you may address your complaints to your alderperson and he/she will write the complaint. |
