The West Allis Health Department provides community leadership to protect and promote the health of West Allis citizens. The West Allis Health Department improves the health status of its citizens through services focused on prevention, community-wide education and assures a continuum of care.

The Health Department is committed to ensuring the health of West Allis residents by providing these services

• Public Health Nurses and Community Health Screening Technicians provide health screenings, counseling, communicable disease control, and referral to community resources, in a variety settings for infants, children and adults
• Dental health services
• Health Educators offer health care education programs on a variety of topics
• Environmental health services include compliance inspections, complaint investigations, and lead poisoning prevention
• Farmers Market
• Services and activities for senior citizens at the Senior Center
• Vital statistics, including birth and death certificates
• Commercial scale and weight inspections

The Health Department provides staff support for the Board of Health. Staff support for the Commission on Aging is provided by the Health Department's Senior Center.

Many health programs are funded through grants provided by the State of Wisconsin, Department of Health and Social Services.
