Weights and measures inspections assure that the consumer is getting an accurate quantity, time, or measure. Each year all commercial weights and measures devices (scales, gas pumps, and timing devices) are checked for accuracy. All approved devices are then affixed with a City seal that states the date of the last inspection. Weights are also checked on a yearly basis. Short weight or mislabeled products are removed from sale and sent back to the distributor or manufacturers. Scales and weights used by Weights and Measures are tested and certified by the State Metrology Lab. Scanner/price verification tests are done to insure accuracy at the register. |
