Library
The mission of the West Allis Public Library's Children's Department is to encourage children to become lifelong library users.
The Children's Department is located on the second floor of the West Allis Public library. There are many public access computers in the Children's Department. The library now has NextReads, an email newsletter service that provides reading suggestions for all ages in more than twenty reading interest categories. [Next Reads >>]
Children's Programs
The Children's Department offers Story Times, Summer Reading Programs, and Field Trips to the Library. See the Children's Programs page and the Library Calendar for a listing of current programs.
Reference Databases
The West Allis Public Library subscribes to several online reference databases for school age children to serve their research needs. The Children's Department especially recommends Student Research Center via Badgerlink, Culturgrams and Worldbook Online. Reference databases can be accessed by topic online. Children's Collection
The main focus of our collection is for children and infants through the 6th grade. We offer the following types of material:- Print Material of all kinds including Board Books, Easy Readers, Fact Books, Fiction Books, Graphic Novels, Holiday Books, Magazines, Picture Books, Paperbacks,and Reference Books
- Multimedia that includes Audio Books, CDs, CD-ROMS, DVD's, Leapfrog Kits, Videotapes
- Puzzles, Duplo table, Fisher-Price toys to occupy young children while their caregiver selects library materials in the Children’s Department (These toys and puzzles are not available for check out.)
