Police Department

Training Bureau >

The West Allis Police Department, in cooperation with the Boy Scouts of America, offers a unique experience through its career awareness Law Enforcement Explorer Post. The Explorer Post gives youths ages 14 through 20 the opportunity of finding out first hand what a career in law enforcement is like before entering the field.

Professionalism, community service, a positive attitude and respect are among the traits that have become an integral part of this organization.

Meetings are held at the Police Department each month. Each meeting is intended to be a training exercise, with many meetings that include hands-on activities. The Police Department is able to tap into the expertise of many of its officers to provide interesting topics.

The Police Explorers also includes a bike patrol unit. This unit was designed by members and the training was supplied by the West Allis Police Department-Training Division. The Explorer unit paid the majority of the expenses for the start-up of this program by volunteering their time at various events. This unique program is the first of its kind for Police Explorers in the State of Wisconsin. This bike patrol unit will volunteer its time at various events throughout the City of West Allis and for the Boy Scouts of America.

For further information on joining the Explorer Post contact the Training Bureau at (414) 302-8134.
