Property Awards: Patriotic Display | Commendable Properties | Best PorchThe Forestry Division provides staff support for the Public Beautification Committee and sponsors the annual awards for the Patriotic Display program. Patriotic Display Awards were created to increase awareness of patriotism and celebrate allegiance to our wonderful Nation. Residents are encouraged to create patriotic theme displays, which could include flags, buntings, flowers, handcrafted or purchased items, with relevance to Memorial Day and Independence Day. Winners receive a flag from the VFW Auxiliary to Post 1912, which sponsors this program in conjunction with the Beautification Committee. The recipients of the Patriotic Display Awards are selected by the West Allis Beautification Committee in July and honored at a ceremony held in September. In addition to the award, a sign is posted at each property and the City’s Cable Communications Office creates video highlighting each property. This video may be viewed on City 25, our cable television station, throughout the year and on the City’s website. Patriotic Display Award Winners: 2011 Memorial Day Winner
